President Donald Trump will deliver remarks on the economy Friday morning.
The announcement of the remarks came shortly after the Commerce Department released some positive economic data, saying that the nation’s gross domestic product – the value of all goods and services produced in the U.S. – increased at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.1 percent. It is the largest gain since the third quarter of 2014, and is on par with what economists had predicted, a 4.2 percent increase.
Trump will be speaking from the White House days after meeting with the president of the European Commission and amid criticism over the escalating trade war with the EU and China. The Trump administration and the EU had reached what some EU officials had deemed ‘detente’ on trade.
